Challenge 150 - Smooth

Diamond life, lover boy.
We move in space with minimum waste and maximum joy.
City lights and business nights.
When you require streetcar desire for higher heights.

No place for beginners or sensitive hearts
When sentiment is left to chance.
No place to be ending but somewhere to start.

No need to ask.
He's a smooth operator

The lyrics to Sade's classic, "Smooth Operator" seem made for Neal Caffrey, don't they?

But this week's challenge, Smooth, doesn't have to be pejorative. Mozzie's bald pate is as smooth as a baby's bottom, and June can belt out those smooth jazz standards like no one else. The Taurus gives us a smooth ride and Elizabeth is a master at smoothing Peter's ruffled feathers. We've also had our share of smooth villians.

Many thanks to newcomer, treonb for her fill. We have opera cake and espresso in the next room.

Challenge 149 - Rough

Neal's had a rough time of it lately. Mozzie had a rough childhood. Peter and Elizabeth's marriage is about to weather some rough seas.

This week's challenge is all about life when things don't come so easily. Give us your drabbles and ficlets, even if they are diamonds in the rough.

As whitecollar100 enters its fourth year (our third anniversary is just two months away), look for some exciting changes - we're going to host some challenges and fests and give writes chances to earn some badges of honor.

Prompt 148 - Soft

When it comes to Neal, Peter's rather soft-hearted. Mozzie's best childhood friend was a soft stuffed teddy bear. Diana's the opposite of soft, but not always. Reese Hughes definitely has a soft spot for Peter, and for that son of a bitch, Neal Caffrey.

This week's challenge is to show, in 300 words or less, how soft (or not soft) our favorite White Collar characters can be.

Many thanks to vexed_wench for the "Wisdom" drabble this week. A lovely gift basket is waiting for you in the next room.

Our dearest ladygray99 is stepping down from her modly duties here at whitecollar100 for personal reasons and has asked me to find a new moderater for the comm. I am delighted to announce that my good friend, embroiderama will be taking up the duties as my co-mod.

Please join me in thanking Ladygray99 for all of the time and effort she's given this comm, week after week, for nearly three years. It has been a pleasure, a privilege and an honor to work with her and call her friend.

We wish you the very best of everything for you and yours.

Prompt 147 - Wisdom

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing,” Socrates said.

In the world of White Collar, we know this is true. Knowledge does not equal wisdom - if that was true, Neal Caffrey might be the wisest man who ever lived, with Peter and Mozzie a close second. It may be that Elizabeth is the only truly wise character.

The prompt this week is a challenge, isn't it? But give it your best shot.

Prompt 146 Genius

It’s easy to describe Neal as a genius. He speaks multiple languages, can forge the works of the great masters, and can seem to pick up new skills on a whim. And those are just the things we know about. Could Neal be a genius in other areas? Was he a prodigy doted upon by his teachers or did he carefully hide away his skills? Mozzie is almost certainly a greater genius than Neal with a mind capable of holding whole world of information. What might Mozzie’s life had been like if hadn’t run from his foster home? If ordinary society had recognized his amazing mind? Peter is no slouch in the brain pan arena either. He was spark enough to catch Neal after all. Our other agents are pretty clever as well. Do any of them have a skill or a subject that they are simply genius in? Is it something no one else would ever consider of them?

Prompt 145 Smart

You can’t catch a con or run one without being smart. How many of our favorites grew up being the smart kid in class? How many of them grew up trying to hide their intelligence for one reason or another? Everyone loves a smartly dressed man. How about a full on fashion throw down between the guys. We know Neal can pick a perfect suit but what about the others when they really try?
